Waiting to go...

We have a little more information on little Juri. The most recent medical assessment is from one week ago and says that he will need to see an eye doctor (which we already knew) and that they think he should have his hearing checked as he isn't really speaking yet. We're hoping that he's OK, poor little guy. They also said that he is running around and that he is very fast! Tad was in track so he is pretty excited to hear that - I can just imagine those two running around like crazy in the park. They said that he has certain toys that he prefers and he likes to have his own way (unlike most two year olds??).

We have a few more pictures from the same visit and hope to see a video soon. Our paperwork has all been sent back to accept him and now we are just hoping that the AAC approves it all when they meet this week. After they accept it we wait to find out when the court date is and once that is set we can make our travel plans. We are very impatient and can't wait to get over there!

In the meantime we are working & saving as much as we can, and getting his bedroom ready. That simple statement has meant rearranging literally every bedroom in the house, as well as the attic and basement, in order to get it all set up just the way I wanted (thank you Tad for being patient). Pictures to follow of the room very soon!

I've attached the most recent picture from last week -isn't he cute?

Finally a picture!

Today we got more medical information on Juri and a photo! He's a cutie! I know I've seen that same look on Tad's face before, so he'll fit in well here. The information we received says that he smiles when he likes something, can point to body parts, eats with a spoon and cries when his food is finished. We're told that is not really able to speak yet -more stammers the words. His physical development is normal and there is no information on his biological parents. He needs to have an eye check for the strabismus and some work with speech. We are hoping to hear more updated information on him next week!

September 11, 2007

We were able to speak with a family that adopted a child last year at this time from the same orphanage our little guy is in. It was very helpful to get some first hand information! Still no picture yet, or other information -we're hoping to have more soon!

In case anyone is interested, we're told things that are good to bring to the orpanage are baby powder, baby wipes, diaper rash cream, fever reducer (children's Advil/Tylenol), flannel that they use to make sheets, thick baby tights, booties, little sweat pants/shirts, footie jammies. Sounds like not so good things are bibs, sippy cups or stuffed animals.

Today we got the news that we have been waiting for! Bethany Christian Services called to tell us about a little boy in Vlora, Albania that they've chosen for us to adopt. More information as soon as we know.
